         I understand,that a new drag washer is available for my 6500C3....

   Yes,there is a new style of washer.It is a serrated type,similar to what has been   used on the Penn 210 series. The new washer set is now replaced during our servicing of your reel. You can also purchase the upgraded washer set(3-1116906)at a cost of $3.99 a set.

 

 I use my reel a lot in a year.How ofter should i have my reel cleaned/lubed??

 WE recommend that your reel be serviced once a year. It's a small price to pay for regular maintenance. We see a lot of reels that only get cleaned every (5) years.You should see the damage incurred.(no grease on gears,dry ball bearings,etc).

 

  I own a 6500C3 baircast reel, with the 5.3:1 gear ratio. I'd like to have a slower & more powerful retrieve ratio. Is this possible???

Glad you asked!. We now have available a drive & pinion gear set,with 3.8-1 gearing. It will require more turns than the 5.3-1 gearing,but the added strength for muskies will be worth it...

 

I have a reel that is noisy in the gears.A friend says,"use vaseline". What do u think??

NO!!!...Vaseline is NOT RECOMMENDED,in fact the following lubricants are NOT to be used in your reel or any reel:

 

Vaseline...Vicks Vaporub...Vagisil...Preparation H...Dap Hair Setting Gel..Chap Stick

Graphite Powder...Toothpaste...and the list is endless folks.....

 

How long can i expect my reel(s) to be down for servicing??

That depends on the time of year when you bring it in or have it mailed. As more days go by,it will take longer,but even by Opening Day(first Saturday in May) my down time can/will be up to 10 days..Its best to get the service done,and have peace of mind.My slowest times are November – February.  This is an ideal time to bring your reels in, and beat the spring rush.Generally, during the busiest times of the year, your reel(s) can be “turned around” within 10-14 days.  However, if your reel(s) need parts that are on “back order” (or B/O), this can delay your getting your reels back in a reasonable amount of time.
